Five Lines to the Sky Lincoln, Nebraska 1970
Five Lines to the Sky ( height 60’) was commissioned for a major American sculpture exhibition of the seventies, “American Sculpture”, organized by Norman Geske, Director of the Sheldon Sculpture Garden/ Nebraska University Museum of Art in Nebraska’s state capitol, Lincoln. The Streeter sclpture was set on the Capitol Mall, at the opposite end of the mall from the State Capitol Building. Built by Lincoln carpenters in wood, the piece was to executed in painted steel
Norman Geske was the curator of the Venice Biennale in 1968. Tal was a runner up in Nebraka’s Interstate 80 Bicentennial Sculpture Project : 500 Mile Sculpture Garden that Geske proposed with Thomas A. Yates A nebraskan banker. Tal proposed a giant wheel form.
